Now it really is Autumn, rain, cold winds, should we turn the heating on, etc. I love the 6PAC concept running on Stitchers Guild. I’ve chosen red and black for my main colours; I know scarlet is not a neutral but it works for me.
The idea behind this selection is clothes smart enough for the meetings I attend, and may also be called to speak at. The audience is all female, so they notice what you wear!
So my first piece is some more black trousers. The pair I made as part of the Spring 6PAC have not worn well, the sanded finish means they pick up every piece of fluff in passing. Also the fabric is not as sturdy as I really wanted. For this pair I chose stretch cotton drill from My fabrics.co.uk. They are a German fabric company, and have a good selection of solid colours. They also send free samples fairly quickly. The postage is reasonable as well. I used Burda 7447 again, although I am not as please with the fit I got this time. I think I will wear them a couple more times, wash them, then probably take them in at the hip and thighs. The fabric seems to stretch out quite a bit and then stabilise.
Moving on to my next piece, this is a Sewaholic Alma blouse, collarless and long sleeves. I’m pleased with the pattern matching. I cut out each sleeve separately so I could match patterns across the the front. It turned out well didn’t it? As before, I omitted the zip as the top goes over my head easily.
The only thing I changed was the cuffs, I halved their depth and made them closer fitting to my skinny wrists.
I’m pleased with this blouse, it should get plenty of wear this winter. I’ve already completed the silver ruched front top and am waiting for some better light for photography.
