Last Saturday I attended my first Sewists meetup held in Goldhawk Road. It was quite an overwhelming experience as 38 people turned up. I could hear the chatter as I came down the stairs from the tube platform! Claire from Sew Incidentally was a brilliant organiser and met everyone with clipboard in hand. Her sidekick handed us a sticker with our name on it and we were away.
I had brought a bag of things to swap; two lengths of fabric I didn’t want ,and some patterns that were never going to be made.
I came home with :
A lovely piece of cotton lawn , enough to make a short sleeved blouse. A good length of off- white suiting with black and silver thread running through it. That will make another Chanel jacket! The skirt pattern will make a nice long skirt for next summer. I was pleased with my haul, there was so much to choose from, everyone played nicely and there were no fights.
I enjoyed the day, although I was tired out by the time I got home. There were so many people there that I didn’t get to talk to, maybe next time. It’s so nice to talk to fellow sewists who can recognise your skirt at a glance! ( I wore my new Kelly skirt).
